Wizkid wins 3 Billboard awards; Drake breaks record with 13 awards

Nigerian popstar, Wizkid, won three awards at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, which held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States, on Sunday.
The only Nigerian artiste to win this big, Wizkid’s hit collaboration with Drake & Kyla on One Dance last year earned him all the awards.
The singer, who was nominated for 7 awards, came out tops in the Top Streaming Song, Top R&B Song and Top R&B Collaboration, categories.
Rapper Ludacris and singer Vanessa Hudgens co-hosted of this year’s Billboard Music Awards.
Drake was the big winner at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. The rapper took home 13 awards, making him the artist with the most in a single year, beating Adele’s record of 12.

Runtown shares official music video for new single “For Life”
Sequel to the release of the video of his previously released banger entitled “For Life”, Nigerian music sensation, Runtown, has released the official music video for his 2017 debut single.
The song, which has garnered impressive reviews since it premiered, serves as a good follow up to his 2016 monster hit christened “Mad Over You”.
The self acclaimed “Sound god” like he is sometimes called, had his breakthrough in 2014 with the release of his groundbreaking record dubbed “Gallardo”.
Though surrounded by controversies at some point in his career, the singer has managed to remain highly relevant with back to back hits.
Despite the fact that his recent tune, “For You” sounds a lot like “Mad Over You”, fans have chosen to consciously ignore the obvious.
The song was produced by fast rising Nigerian music producer, Krizbeatz, who is also responsible for quite a number of raving singles including Tekno’s “Pana” and “Diana”, Seyi Shay’s “Weekend Vibes”, Skales’ “Temper”, among others.
The video was directed by Meji Alabi.

EriggaSelf-acclaimed street king to release EP "A trip to the South" [Video]
The street hop act who spoke on a number of things with Pulse, wants to get the world familiar with life back home in the South South on the project.
Erigga speaks with Pulse on bringing realness into his music, a quality that has stood him out in the game, and people being able to relate to what he is saying among other gists.
The self-acclaimed street king makes clear his stand on Nigerians adapting to the international sound and signing international record deals, he says “We’re trying to sell our culture to the world, so no matter what we do, we can never get it like them, no matter what you do, don’t get lost,” he tells fellow artists.
He speaks on coverage of South South music in the media, lamenting that South South acts don’t have access to the resources Lagos artists are privileged to having, and that the only thing surviving his music is the story behind his song.
“A trip to the South” EP is in the works according to Erigga, who says he is trying to get people familiar with the South South. “It’s like a movie” he says about the EP.
On how he measures his success, Erigga says that would be when he gets to impact others with the platform he has.
“It’s not about how much you make but how many lives you can touch,” he says.
